The double standard!

When was the last time you watched a football game of your favorite football club? When was the last time you watched in a pub or in public? Whether it was long time back or last night, there is always a character in public midst all the viewers who condemns the clubs and so called “corporate control”. That person could be anybody but I can surely say with personal experience that I have seen at least one of these people who make these comments. In these moments I have wished to punch the person in the face and I might go out and say, you would want it too!

But if that somebody is someone you know then you can also agree with me that, the same person will watch a country versus country fixture with no comments at all. The problem is not that the person disturbs your interests with his comments whereas he enjoys the game when it is in his or her terms. But the problem is that person is a big hypocrite!

Let me make it clear to you, a country is a franchise itself. Whether you believe it or not, when there is a fixture between countries the audience is divided into camps without a question. Even if it is a country that you do not belong to, you make up your mind to support it. It is a double standard on the part of the hypocrite. He or she claims the corporate maniacs are dividing us while we watch professional football and profit whereas he or she enjoys a Word Cup match.

The hypocrisy does not end there my friends. Hypocrite like those may claim that the money pumped into professional sports, the advertisements and the money making scandals are the tools which make us corporate puppets (which is true by the way). But isn't that the same with a country versus country games? Isn't it the same players most of the time? They may say that it is a country’s pride and reputation at stake in such a game but how so? Isn't it one way for the government to ensure people are entertained so that they do not question the government? If we try and tackle them while we watch a game, they make a big scene and disturb the viewers watching the game. That is another moment when we would want to punch them in the face.

The policy of every government, religion, idea, corporation and pretty much everything is to divide the masses and conquer. The British conquered India using same methods and today too we are all conquered by the same principle. When we see every religion out there, the idea dictates to unite for common good and god. “Our god is true and we are united as humans.” The double standard there is that the god is said to be true which divides humans itself because of the multiple numbers of religions out there and follows with a contradictory statement of uniting people together. Hypocrisy at its best and there is little difference between these hypocrites and the ones who disturb our game.

What I am trying to say here is not to damn religion, countries or corporations. The message that I am relaying here is; DO NOT FALL FOR HYPOCRITES. Enjoy what you love and if some hypocrite tries to get in your way of having fun, beat them with their own logic (not while you watch the game though).

Things to Remember

What do you cherish the most? Your cell phone or the photos in that phone? Your money or the amount of hours that you put into earning that money? Your hotel room or the memories of the time spent with the loved one in the hotel room? These questions seem so clear to be one sided but in today’s modern world they are the most difficult to be answered.

At a glance it may seem that it is very easy to make these choices but in everyday life it becomes difficult to figure out what is important. The thought of success has muddled the definition of true happiness. Are we really happy when we get a buttload of cash or are we happy when we spend that money spending time with our friends? The answer would be easy; the latter. But let us ask ourselves, do we really do this? DO we really go for friends when we are tempted by money? Do we sit by our parents just because we wanted to and miss a day at work? The answer maybe a harsh “No”.

It is good that we should be careful with money and success. It will define our lives but if that is the only purpose of life then it is not worth living. Friends and family count more than what we have in our pockets because they are priceless. This has been told again and again but let me give you a solid example. Let me give you an example from a recent event from my life. We were three friends and together we had only about 200 rupees. In those two hundred rupees we ate two full meals each in the lunch hour, played some cards, watched some movies and at the end of the day we were laughing our hearts out from all the jokes that we told each other.

The economy right now suggests that at 200 rupees decent fun is not possible. If we see the trend among the youth then that supports the argument. Even a movie costs 300 rupees at least. A cup of decent coffee is Rs.90. I should know this because my Facebook wall is filled with my juniors, seniors and peers spending that much money on their day-out fiestas. But how did I manage to have fun in a low budget? The answer is simple. It was because of the company of my friends.

This is the thing to remember, never worry about money when the thing that matters is companionship when you are with your genuine friends. I should know this because I have friends and they last for life.

Loose Motions!

There are moments in life when you live in your bedroom and there are moments in life when you live in your bathroom. Bathroom moments are very special because of our encore singing and dance performance. Sometimes there are unexpected appearances by parents because we forget to lock the door. But most of the time we are alone and in these alone moments there is one moment I am likely to remember; those moments when I have loose motions.

Not those loose motions that come from my behind but the loose motions from my mind. Yes, when I sit in that toilet pane I tend to think so much. Those precious moments of solitude are so much fun. I find nothing but good ideas when I am there. Yes that is my sanctum and that is my nirvana. There are lots of people out there who agree with me too and that makes me even happy.

Sometimes I felt like a weirdo because I do this. This was until I talked to my friends about their safe places. It was surprising that most of them said that it was their bathroom. WOW! Can you believe that? A bathroom of all places! Yes, my friends made me feel good about it. Talking to them made me realize I am special like everyone else in my own way. Talking to my friends made me realize that talking about anything makes you feel better.

That is the power of friends I guess and frankly they have more loose motions of their minds than me. They are deep thinkers and wanderers of the mind realm. They ask questions and give answers to so many of the complex philosophical questions that even I am petrified to ask. I bet some of their skills rubbed off on me and I have become like them.

Friends have a special way with us and that makes them special. They have their antiques and their shortcomings but that becomes their specialty. They think, act and inspire me to and vice-versa. We have a saying among us, “One for all, and all for one!”

But that being said, we are all special in our own way!
